During Zafra [Harvest] 2024/25, Guatemalan mills achieved a total production of launa producción of 2,620,692 metric tons of sugar.
About production
About 40% remains in the country for domestic consumption and is fortified with vitamin A to fight childhood blindness and with iron to prevent anemia, thus contributing to health and food security of Guatemalan children.
60% is exported to 60 countries in the world, positioning Guatemala as an important exporter of sugar worldwide.
In 2025, sugar and its byproducts accounted for 7.3% of Guatemala’s total exports.
